2016-17 LaLiga – Sofascore Team of the Week, Round 22

Round 22 brought wins for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla between others, as well as a number of fantastic goals in LaLiga.

Top 5 in LaLiga won their matches of the Round 22 to keep the distance equal.

Espanyol 1-2 Real Sociedad (Perez 35′; Vela 26′, Illarramendi 61′)

Real Sociedad continued their great season with another important win. Carlos Vela brought visitors ahead after 25 minutes with a nice execution after Inigo’s fantastic assist. Espanyol equalised through Hernan Perez’ amazing effort, but in the second half Asier Illarramendi proved to be a key man once more with a long range goal that gave La Real victory.

Betis 0-0 Valencia

Both sides had their opportunities in this match, the hosts hitting the woodwork twice and missing one more great chance, while the visitors will be mentioning potential penalty in the first half that probably should have been given.

Alaves 0-6 Barcelona (Suarez 37′, 67′, Neymar 40′, Messi 59′, Alexis o.g. 63′, Rakitic 65′)

Barcelona welcomed a chance for revenge against a side that has beaten them at the Camp Nou earlier in the season and did it in a big margin. Despite the hosts starting very well and missing a fantastic opportunity, the visitors very soon took the lead and never looked back, in the end knocking six past Pacheco.

Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Deportivo (Muniain 71′, Aduriz 89′; Colak 42′)

Deportivo grabbed the lead near the end of the first half through Colak’s amazing long range goal, but the hosts managed to turn the game around in the second half, scoring two goals through Muniain and Aduriz to win the three points.

Osasuna 1-3 Real Madrid (Sergio Leon 33′; Cristiano 24′, Isco 62′, Lucas Vazquez 90+3′)

Despite playing a solid match, Osasuna didn’t manage to break their negative run and hurt Real Madrid. Cristiano brought the visitors ahead with a nice goal in the first half. Sergio Leon equalised for the hosts with a chip over Navas, but goals by Isco and Lucas Vazquez meant Real Madrid resumed their lead in LaLiga standings.

Villarreal 1-1 Malaga (Soriano 62′; Dias 14′)

Malaga went ahead after 14 minutes and really should’ve been given a penalty in the second half to confirm their win; however, instead a penalty was given to Villarreal later and Soriano used it to equalise. When the same player was given a red card the match opened up, but both goalkeepers stood strong to leave the final result at 1-1.

Leganes 0-2 Sporting (Canella 66′, Burgui 83′)

At Butarque, Leganes and Sporting played a real six-pointer – the visitors were successful in the end, winning immensely important three points. Canella brought them ahead in the second half with a poor reaction from Herrerin, while Burgui confirmed the win late in the match.

Las Palmas 0-1 Sevilla (Correa 80′)

In a match that truly could’ve gone either way, both Las Palmas and Sevilla had numerous opportunities. In the end it was Joaquin Correa who scored one for the visitors late in the match to keep the up close to the leading duo.

Atletico Madrid 3-2 Celta (Torres 11′, Carrasco 86′, Griezmann 88′; Cabral 5′, Guidetti 78′)

Celta took the lead through Moya’s error early in the match, but the hosts replied very quickly through Torres’ brilliant goal. However, El Nino wasn’t able to score the penalty (it was the soft one to be fair) minutes later, instead hitting the bar. Celta took advantage by Guidetti finishing the amazing move in the second half. Still, the hosts turned the match around before long through two more amazing goals – Carrasco’s screamer and Griezmann’s great finish.

Eibar 4-0 Granada (Adrian 11′, Enrich 39′, Ramis 52′, Pedro Leon 62′)

Second 4-0 win for Eibar in a row – Adrian Gonzalez brought them ahead after a penalty, and Sergi Enrich scored the second near the end of the half. It was all over when Ivan Ramis scored a brilliant goal after a corner-kick, and before the end Pedro Leon set the final score at 4-0.
