Just six days after Olivier Giroud managed to score a replica of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s scorpion kick goal vs. Crystal Palace, the feat has been repeated again in Spain.
It is quite a neat skill, the scorpion kick, with the scorer required to show impeccable timing and agility to catch the ball on his heel and flick it over his head with the exact right amount of power.
As such, when Mkhitaryan grabbed headlines with his effort against Sunderland on Boxing Day, nobody expected that it would matched by another player so soon.
But Giroud, who is not the most nimble or acrobatic of players in the Premier League, did it against the Eagles barely a week later and now… well, the scorpion kick is just no longer all that special.

Reza Ghoochannejhad, otherwise known as “Gucci”, is the latest player to wow spectators with a scorpion kick goal. His brilliant effort granted Dutch side Heerenveen the equalizer in a friendly played against Wolfsburg in Spain on Saturday.
“Gucci”, who also turned out for Charlton in the English Championship, also played a key part in Heerenveen’s next goal as they won 2-1 against the German side.
Giroud, in the meantime, continued his resurgence in Arsenal colors by scoring the winning goal against Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners were pegged back by the hardworking Championship mid-table side, who scored early in the 7th before wasting a catalogue of chances to extend their lead.
But Arsene Wenger’s men regrouped in the second half, with Aaron Ramsey scoring in the 46th minute before Giroud scored a minute from the end of the match to register a 2-1 win.
Consequently, Arsenal join the likes of Man City, Man United and Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup following their respective victories earlier on Saturday.
Liverpool and Chelsea, meanwhile, are yet to secure their 4th round berths with games against Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United respectively awaiting them on Sunday.
