La Liga Team of the Week – Round 7
One more week of exciting La Liga matches is behind us, and two fixtures have been prominent in the Round 7 – ‘derbi Madrileno’ ended in an eventful 1-1 draw, and Sevilla made quick work of Barcelona without Messi, with great performance of Michael Krohn Dehli.
Real Betis also continued their quite an impressive start into league, beating Rayo Vallecano away with a 2-0 final scoreline, with a great defensive performance and Antonio Adan’s big saves – goalkeeper has made a total of seven, earning his place in the Team of the Week.
Together with him, Heiko Westermann also played an important role in defence, making six clearances, including one off the line, and what’s more, even managing to score a goal up front.
Athletic Bilbao also won against struggling Valencia, and Andreu Laporte in the middle of defence with an amazing performance, winning duels and tackles, creating chances and, what’s more, also scoring a goal to complete his presence on the pitch.
Third man in this week’s defensive trio is Celta’s man Gustavo Daniel Cabral. Celta dominated against Getafe, however, they were unable to score out of at least one of their big chances, and had to accept only a point at the final whistle. Cabral made sure rare Getafe’s opporunities have been dealt with, as he collected five interceptions and tackles.
Luka Modric was easily the man of the match of Madrid derby, winning a stunning percentage of his duels, dominating midfield and holding Real’s lines together, forcing Atletico’s midfielder to chase him over the pitch and concede yellow cards. He’s paired with Michael Krohn Dehli, our featured player of the week for the Round 7. Danish midfielder destroyed Barcelona, scoring, getting an assist, and creating one more chance, together with providing five key passes and winning six out of his ten duels.
Wing positions are occupied with one more Celta player, Daniel Wass, who helped in controling the midfield for his side, and Saul of Eibar, who scored an opener in victory of his team over Las Palmas.
As for attackers, although Barcelona ultimatively lost, Neymar was a must-pick for the Team of the Week, as Brazilian created many chances and provided key passes, finally scoring himself from a penalty spot. Charles Dias of Malaga did his job perfectly in victory over Real Sociedad, scoring a stunning hat-trick, while Ruben Castro of Real Betis played a really good game overall, rounding it up with scoring of second half goal to ensure his team is taking three points from Vallecas.
Segunda Team of the Week – Round 7
Osasuna won again in Segunda, with a steady performance against Lugo, and their followers Alcorcon, Numancia and Cordoba kept their distance with victories.
Huesca were also close to their second victory of the season which would see them overtake their Round 7 opponents Valladolid and move out of relegation zone, but Kepa Arrizabalaga remained strong between the sticks, collecting a total of ten saves. David Timor was also good for Valladolid, making unbelievable 21 clearances.
Along with them, defensive four includes Carlos Belvis of Alcorcon, Jordi of Llagostera and Juanma Marrero of Numancia.
As for midfield, Oscar Plano of Alcorcon and Roberto Torres of Osasuna have dominated in their matches against Gimnastic and Lugo respectively, both managing to score, with Torres taking his game one step forward to bang in a hat-trick. Alexander of Leganes and Juanto of Llagostera played good matches as well, completing the midfield four for the Team of the Week for the Round 7.
Forwards have had slightly rough time this week, but our choice fell to Chuli of Almeria and Nino of Osasuna, reigning Segunda legend, both of them scoring goals.
