Champions League Fantasy Picks: Round 6

Champions League Fantasy Picks: Round 6

The short turnaround between rounds five and six has us back again with yet some more Sofascore Fantasy picks.

Round five will be a do-or-die situation for some, as clubs with four points or less need to start racking up wins to enter the last two rounds with a chance of advancing past the league phase. On the other hand, Arsenal, PSG, and the other big boys are looking as comfortable as you can get.

For Round six, no special themes – just our best Fantasy picks!

Manuel Neuer (Bayern vs Sporting) – 6.1m

What better way to start with football’s original sweeper-keeper and one of the best ever in his position, Manuel Neuer. While the legendary German goalkeeper is not what he was 10 years ago, the veteran has shown flashes of his old brilliance, combining his experience and composure with his insane reflexes.

Despite a slightly ‘weaker’ performance in Round five against Arsenal, Neuer was the player of the match in a crucial Round four away win against defending champions PSG, with a Sofascore Rating of 8.2. Neuer should have a calm night between the sticks as Sporting will arrive in Munich as massive underdogs, facing arguably the most in-form team in European football, next to Arsenal.

Manuel Neuer
Bayern Munich

Pedro Porro (Tottenham vs Slavia Praha) – 7.1m

The Spanish fullback has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers for the past two seasons, offering a blend of defensive work rate and attacking creativity down the right flank. Despite being a defender, his chance creation remains a key part of Spurs’ structure, especially under Thomas Frank’s organised setup.

In a matchup where Tottenham enter as clear favourites against the Czech side Slavia Praha, Porro’s forward surges and defensive duties make him a strong candidate for a lot of Sofascore Fantasy points this round. From goals and assists to clean sheets, having some Tottenham defenders in your squad could make a difference this round.

Pedro Porro
Tottenham

Jurriën Timber (Club Brugge vs Arsenal) – 6.2m

Similar to his North London rival in Pedro Porro, Timber combines physicality with ball-playing ability, often initiating attacks from the back. So far this season, both domestically and in Europe, Timber has been extremely consistent for Arteta’s side, with an average Sofascore rating of 7.12 in the Premier League and 7.12 in the Champions League. Most recently, Timber scored in Arsenal’s massive win against Bayern.

Against a Club Brugge side likely to cede possession, Timber will have space on the right to be involved in a lot of Arsenal’s attacks, offering himself to Fantasy players as a defender with multiple avenues for points. Timber isn’t shy of assisting either; we all remember his perfect 10 performance against Leeds in August, or most recently, against their slightly less glorious neighbours from North London.

Jurrien Timber
Arsenal

Micky van de Ven (Tottenham vs Slavia Praha) – 6.3m

Speaking of Arsenal’s less glorious neighbours, we’ve got an all-North London defence with two Tottenham players encircling our only Gunner. Despite two terrible back-to-back performances from Spurs’ entire backline against currently superior opposition in Arsenal and PSG, Micky van de Ven has been a standout in Tottenham’s defence this season. Combining strength, speed, and composure, van de Ven is the very definition of a modern centre-back.

Tackles, interceptions, and duels won are van de Ven’s bread and butter, translating directly into a plethora of Fantasy points if Slavia Praha does get the occasional attack or two. On the other hand, the Dutch defender offers an occasional attacking threat, adding a goal to his potential Fantasy haul. He already has two in the Champions League thus far in five matches played, so I don’t think anybody would be surprised if he added a third against Slavia Praha.

Scott McTominay (Benfica vs Napoli) – 8.1m

Kicking off the midfield, we’ve got the freshly awarded 2025 Serie A Player of the Year and Neapolitan fan favourite ‘McFratm’. McTominay is walking proof of how a man can be reborn when leaving Old Trafford, adapting to Italian football in an instant and instantly becoming a key figure in Napoli’s Scudetto-winning side last season. Napoli is on the right path to repeat the success of their 2024/25 campaign, sitting in second in Serie A as well as de facto needing only one more win in the UCL to make it through the league phase.

The Scottish icon in Naples is an absolute engine and ever-present in all areas of the pitch. He can score, even world-class goals like that insane bicycle kick against Denmark; he can defend, and he can win you plenty of duels and ball recoveries. Luckily for you, he’s played a bit better in the Champions League than Serie A this season, so expect the Scottish sensation to turn up against a struggling Benfica side.

Leandro Andrade (Qarabağ vs Ajax) – 5.1m

Since we’ve touched upon a ‘struggling Benfica side’, their Champions League campaign turned downhill from the very get-go as they lost at home to Azerbaijani underdogs Qarabağ, despite going 2-0 up in the opening 15 minutes. Qarabağ’s comeback started with a goal by Cape Verdean midfielder Leandro Andrade. Who would have guessed that their 2-3 victory over Portuguese giants wouldn’t be a one-off, as Qarabağ sit in 19th place with seven points after five rounds, including wins over Benfica and København, and a draw against Chelsea.

On the other hand, their upcoming opponents, Ajax are dead last with 0 points. Andrade has been brilliant in the Champions League thus far, with three goals in five matches and a Sofascore average rating of 7.02. Ajax is vulnerable at the moment, especially considering they’ll be traveling to distant Baku to face an in-form Qarabağ side.

Kenan Yıldız (Juventus vs Pafos) – 7.4m

Moving to our wingers, Yıldız has really stepped up this season, which might sound a bit critical when speaking about a twenty-year-old, but he’s felt the pressure for quite some time now, considering his talent. Yıldız has, without doubt, been Juventus’ standout attacking performer this season, showcasing flair, technique, and growing maturity in the final third. In the Serie A, Turkey’s biggest talent, alongside Güler, has four goals and three assists in 12 appearances, being Juventus’ second-highest-rated player with an average Sofascore rating of 7.37.

Expect him to act as Juve’s creative spark against a Pafos side that will struggle to contain Juventus’ attacking rotations, racking up potential fantasy points through sheer attacking volume, making him one of the most appealing picks of the round. With only one win after five rounds, Round 6 is a must-win for The Old Lady as they may as well voluntarily give up on their Champions League ambitions if they can’t beat the Cypriots at home.

Kenan Yildiz
Juventus

Estêvão (Atalanta vs Chelsea) – 7.4m

If Yıldız is young and feeling the pressure, then so is Palmeiras’ second-highest record departure and Chelsea’s €45m eighteen-year-old summer signing. Estêvão has had a bit of a prolonged adaptation period in the Premier League, but in the UCL, he’s been electric for Chelsea. Three goals in five matches and a phenomenal performance against Barcelona in Round 5, in which he had their entire backline on the ropes.

Thriving in chaotic, open matches, Estêvão could rack up fantasy points through exploiting the spaces Atalanta’s system leaves behind. He’ll be looking to constantly test wingbacks one-on-one, being his forte, and essentially not fitting into the restrictions of ‘boring’ modern football. Atalanta aren’t bad either, being level on points with Chelsea in the Champions League, so we should have an interesting and open game on our hands.

Estevao
Chelsea

Lamine Yamal (Barcelona vs Eintracht Frankfurt) – 11.6m

Since we’ve included Yıldız and Estêvão in this round’s Sofascore Fantasy picks, we may as well conclude our midfield and this streak of Europe’s brightest young stars with the most talented of them all. Everyone knows what Lamine Yamal is about, and his name alone speaks volumes, but let’s repeat some statistics in order to meet the formalities of this article. Yamal is currently the second-highest rated player in LaLiga with a Sofascore Rating of 7.73, with 12 goal involvements in 11 matches.

On the other hand, in the Champions League, he’s sitting at a ridiculous 7.83 average Sofascore Rating. Two goals, an assist, 2.5 key passes per game, 4.5 successful dribbles per game; Yamal is fascinating to watch and a headache for all defenses. I’d spend a sentence or two analyzing the form of Barcelona’s upcoming opponent in Round 6, but we’re talking about Yamal. Who cares who’s on the other side when he has his day.

Lamine Yamal
Barcelona

Ayoub El Kaabi (Kairat vs Olympiacos) – 4.5m

The 29th of May 2024 will go down in history for all Olympiacos fans as Greece’s most successful club won its first European gold, against Fiorentina in the Conference League, when Ayoub El Kaabi found the net in the 116th minute. A year and a half later, and the Moroccan is still leading their lines in new European adventures. In the Greek Super League, El Kaabi is as dominant as you can get, with 10 goals and two assists in 12 matches.

In the Champions League’s previous round, El Kaabi was Olympiacos’ highest-rated player with a Sofascore Rating of 7.4, scoring and assisting in an unlucky loss against Real Madrid at home. In Round 6, Olympiacos won’t be facing a world-class hattrick-scoring Mbappé. Nonetheless, an away day in Central Asia isn’t the funnest of trips. With a win against Kairat, Olympiacos could pick up some confidence going into their last two matches, against Ajax away and Leverkusen at home, in hopes of making it into the next round.

Ayoub El Kaabi
Olympiacos

Serhou Guirassy (Dortmund vs Bodø/Glimt) – 10.4m

Last but not least, we’ve got one of Europe’s most lethal goal scorers from last season. In the 2024/25 Champions League campaign, Guirassy scored an immense 13 goals, with four assists, in 14 matches. He wasn’t too shabby in the Bundesliga either, finding the net 21 times, just behind Harry Kane’s 26 goals. The Guinean is a true penalty-box predator and will be a handful for Bodø/Glimt’s defence if his teammates can find him in dangerous positions.

In the Champions League thus far, Guirassy has scored three goals and provided two assists in five matches, most recently scoring twice in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 home win over Villarreal in Round 5. One more win would mathematically assure Niko Kovač’s men a spot in the UCL’s knockout stage. Only time will tell if Guirassy can repeat his previous seasons’ goalscoring success.
