The latest episode of Numbers Don’t Lie, powered by Sofascore, is filled with amazing football stats that even the most dedicated fans might double-check. The weekly CBS Sports show airs every Monday, breaking down the wildest moments in football, and this week’s “WTF Stats” segment definitely lived up to its name.
Watch the full WTF segment here:
Van de Ven’s Record-Breaking Solo Goal
One of the biggest talking points of the week came from the UEFA Champions League, where Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven scored a solo goal that looked straight out of a video game.
According to Sofascore data, he carried the ball for an astonishing 74.0 yards before finding the back of the net against Copenhagen, the longest run on record for a Champions League goal.

That kind of distance is more than some of us cover jogging to the fridge, and it perfectly sums up Van de Ven’s breakout season. The Dutch defender is now Tottenham’s leading scorer across all competitions, proving he’s more than just a brick wall at the back.
Morocco U17 Make History
From Europe to the global stage, the show turned its focus to Morocco’s U17 team, who didn’t just win, they rewrote the record books.
Morocco defeated New Caledonia 16–0 at the U17 World Cup, recording the highest Sofascore team rating ever at 8.95. The young Atlas Lions also took 80 shots in a single match, the second-highest total ever recorded.

As CBS host Michael Lahoud pointed out, Morocco’s youth success mirrors their rise on the global scene, from World Cup semi-finalists to Olympic medal contenders.
Lewandowski Joins the “Grandpa’s Hat” Club
Next up: Robert Lewandowski proving that age is just a number. The Barcelona striker bagged a hat-trick against Celta Vigo at 37 years and 80 days old, becoming one of LaLiga’s oldest hat-trick scorers since 2000.
Only two players have done it at an older age: Joaquín (38 years, 140 days) and Jorge Molina (39 years, 241 days). Not bad company to be in.

The Longest Unbeaten Home Runs in Europe
To wrap things up, the segment tested the hosts’ guessing skills with a tricky challenge: which teams currently have the longest active unbeaten home runs across Europe’s top five leagues?
The correct answers?
Atlético Madrid (11 games), Villarreal (12), Crystal Palace (12), and Napoli (16), not exactly what anyone expected.

Turns out, some of the most consistent home fortresses are not the usual suspects.
