CBS Sports Golazo is rolling out a new football show with a simple idea: let the numbers do the talking. Starting next week, Numbers Don’t Lie, Powered by Sofascore, will bring fans closer to the game by turning data into stories. The show will be hosted by CBS presenter Nico Cantor, who will use Sofascore stats to explain what’s really happening on the football pitch.
Football Explained Through Numbers
Each episode of Numbers Don’t Lie, Powered by Sofascore will look into the trends and performances shaping the football world. As Cantor explains:
“It’s a stats-driven show powered by our friends at Sofascore, who are brilliant by the way. We’re going to be looking at insights and numbers that tell the story. Through data and statistics, we’ll be telling stories around football world.”
Nico Cantor, CBS presenter
The first announcement from CBS highlighted the U.S. men’s national team and the current challenges under Mauricio Pochettino. Since taking over, Pochettino has already used 59 different players, more than most top national teams in the same period. Cantor pointed out that this reflects a coach still experimenting: “This just screams of ‘I’m searching in my pool for my team.’”
Stats also underline the difficulties against stronger opposition. Under Pochettino, the U.S. has played five matches against teams ranked in FIFA’s top 30, with two goals scored and six big chances created. As Cantor put it: “That’s horrendous. It’s worrying that the U.S. can’t compete against teams like this, especially when you concede first.”
Building on a Growing Partnership
For Sofascore, Numbers Don’t Lie is the latest step in a growing partnership with CBS. Earlier this year, CBS aired the Sofascore Player of the Season Show from Zadar, a first-of-its-kind program celebrating the best performers across world football with data-driven Sofascore’s awards.

That award show, hosted by Kate Scott and Peter Schmeichel and directed by Pete Radovich, showed Sofascore’s global credibility and innovative use of statistics in football storytelling. With Numbers Don’t Lie, the collaboration moves further, bringing data-based stories straight to American football fans on a weekly basis.
Numbers Don’t Lie, powered by Sofascore won’t just look at U.S. football. It will cover the world’s biggest competitions, from domestic leagues to international tournaments, with the UEFA Champions League leading the way. Fans can expect statistical breakdowns of the matches and players that matter most, with Sofascore’s numbers leading every story.
