Chelsea vs Inter: Match preview and prediction

Chelsea will face off against Inter Milan on Saturday as the Singapore section of the 2017 International Champions Cup comes to a close.

The final game on Chelsea’s tour of Asia this summer will see Antonio Conte’s side take on some fairly familiar pre-season opponents, Italian giants Inter Milan.

The clash between the Blues and the Nerazzuri in the International Champion Cup Singapore on 29 July will be the third pre-season meeting in eight years between the clubs following matches in the United States in 2009 and 2013.

Having lost out 3-2 to Bayern Munich in their previous game in this competition, the Blues will look to end on a high note by coming out on top here.  The Blues started very sluggishly and ended up paying the price, with the Bundesliga champions racing to a three goal lead as they looked to recover from the hammering that AC Milan handed them. Chelsea did pull two back in the end, but it was too little, too late for them.

After this match, Chelsea will turn their attention to a Community Shield meeting with Arsenal and the start of their Premier League title defence on August 12.

Meanwhile, Luciano Spalletti’s men have beaten both Lyon and Bayern in their first two matches, and are on their way to maintain that 100% record with a third and final victory.

A first-half double from Eder was enough to help Inter to register a 2-0 win against Bayern on Thursday. The Nerazzurri defeated Lyon in their opening match of the tournament by a lone goal. The back-to-back clean sheets are positive signs for Luciano Spalleti, who is looking to put an end to Inter’s disappointing run in the Serie A.

Head to Head

Chelsea and Inter Milan have each won two and lost two of their four previous meetings.

Chelsea defeated Inter 2-0 in their previous two meetings at the ICC. However, Inter did the same to Chelsea, when the two met during the 2009/10 Champions League season. It was a 2-1 at Milan and 1-0 at the Stamford Bridge.
