Roberto Piccoli is ready to start a new adventure. The striker from Bergamo is getting closer to Bologna, which has reached an agreement with Fiorentina for his transfer. The 2001-born forward arrived in Casteldebole today to undergo his medical and complete the final steps of the deal.
The formula foresees a loan with an obligation to buy, conditional on Bologna’s survival: the agreed figure is 18 million euros, with a possible additional 2 million in bonuses. Fiorentina will also retain 10% of any future resale.
The Striker Domino
The Piccoli operation is one of the most interesting moves in the Serie A market. His departure, in fact, opens up space for Mateo Pellegrino, who is set to move from Parma to Fiorentina for around 22.5 million plus 2.5 in bonuses. At the same time, Bologna is preparing to say goodbye to Thijs Dallinga, who is heading to Cologne.
Piccoli leaves Fiorentina after just one season. He arrived in the summer of 2025 from Cagliari, having been bought by the Viola for a significant fee, with the aim of becoming one of the team’s main attacking alternatives.
His performance, however, was not as hoped. According to available data, in 2025/26 he made 32 Serie A appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist, adding another 10 matches and 3 goals in the Conference League.
A Centre Forward with Presence
Bologna is still getting a striker with precise qualities. Piccoli is 1.90 meters tall, is a right-footed centre forward, and can serve as an important reference point in the team’s attack. His physique allows him to be effective in aerial battles and with his back to goal, while in recent years he has also shown growth in his finishing ability.
Before Florence, his best Serie A season was with Cagliari in 2024/25: 10 goals in 37 appearances, after scoring 5 the previous year with Lecce.
In Bologna, Piccoli will find an environment where he can seek the consistency that eluded him in Florence. The Rossoblù need a ready and physical centre forward, while the Bergamo native has the chance to turn a difficult season into a fresh start.
