We kick-off our 2020 Sofa Awards with The Artist – the award for the best creative player, and it goes to Kevin De Bruyne! He was the brain behind Man City’s and Belgium’s triumphs in 2020, which made him synonymous with the word “playmaker”.

Next up is The Sprout, our award for the highest-rated teenager, which this year is Lassina Traore! 👶
Ajax’s striker may be remembered for his performance against VVV-Venlo (5 goals and 3 assists), but he had a strong 2020 overall.

Our Blazing Boots award for the hottest heatmap of 2020 goes to Manchester City’s Rodri! He registered 178 accurate passes and 195 touches in a Premier League match against West Ham on 19 Feb – both a record in our entire database this year!

Another unique SofaScore award is The Superhero, which we just had to give to Marcus Rashford for his amazing work off the pitch. 🦸
He is a remarkable footballer, but an even better human being, which he showed with his charity work this year.

Going back to our awards for on-the-pitch success, ‘The 2.0’ award for the biggest improvement in our Attribute Overview goes to Alphonso Davies.
He has been the breakout star of 2020, impressing the footballing world at just 20 years of age!

The Hitman award is reserved for the best finisher in football, and there’s little doubt about that one – it’s Robert Lewandowski!
He brought goals, goals and more goals every time he stepped on the pitch, displaying remarkable goalscoring talent.

Our final award is The Absolute Statsman, for the player with the highest SofaScore statistical rating in a calendar year.
He’s still very much at the peak of his powers, putting up brilliant performances on a weekly basis – it’s Lionel Messi!
