The Sofascore Player of the Season Show officially takes center stage tomorrow at the Sunset Sports Festival, but ahead of it all we unveiled something special to mark the occasion.

All of our Player of the Season trophies were exhibited at Zadar’s iconic Greeting to the Sun monument, creating a unique visual tribute to football excellence. Each trophy stood on a pedestal, accompanied by the winner’s photo and their season Sofascore Rating – a powerful image of consistency and brilliance.

Fans passing by were met with a display featuring some of the best performers of the 2024/25 season – Mohamed Salah, whose 7.78 Sofascore rating crowned him the Premier League’s top performer, Joshua Kimmich, the Bundesliga’s most reliable engine with a 7.91, and Raphinha, who shined in LaLiga with a 7.80 rating. The lineup also included Mattia Zaccagni for Serie A, Achraf Hakimi for Ligue 1, and Viktor Gyökeres, who lit up Liga Portugal with a dominant 8.00.

This season’s excellence wasn’t limited to men’s football. Alexia Putellas and Melchie Dumornay claimed their trophies as the best-rated players in Liga F and France’s Première Ligue Féminine, with staggering ratings of 8.15 and 8.24 respectively. Martin Baturina, representing Dinamo Zagreb, stood tall as the top-rated player in Croatia’s HNL.

With all the trophies arranged in a circle around the solar monument, the message was clear: the sun is setting on the season, and rising on well-earned recognition.

Tomorrow, at the Player of the Season Show, we begin shipping these trophies to players around the world – from Europe’s biggest clubs to standout performers across continents.

It’s our way of turning stats into stories. And trophies into a global celebration of football’s finest.

A Word on the Ratings That Power It All
These trophies aren’t based on votes or popularity contests. They’re earned through Sofascore’s performance-based rating system, calculated match by match across the entire season. Every pass, tackle, chance created, and goal is factored into a player’s rating – creating an objective view of consistency and impact.

It’s the reason why these awards carry weight: they reflect what actually happened on the pitch, not just what trended online.
