Spurs outlast Thunder in 2OT as Wembanyama owns Game 1

San Antonio took Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals with a 122-115 win after double overtime in Oklahoma City. The Spurs led for 47 minutes, but needed a second extra period to finally put the top seed away. Victor Wembanyama was the difference, and the numbers say it loud.

Wembanyama’s masterclass, sealed in double OT

The 2-seed Spurs rode a towering night from Victor Wembanyama: 41 points, 24 rebounds and 3 blocks on 14 of 25 shooting and 12 of 13 from the line. He took control in the second overtime, stacking key buckets and free throws that ended OKC’s resistance. On Sofascore, he earned a perfect Sofascore Rating 10.

Dylan Harper added 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals, while Stephon Castle went for 17 points and 11 assists. Castle’s 11 turnovers nearly undid it, but the Spurs’ size and composure late kept them ahead in the series.

Boards and free throws told the story

Chet Holmgren finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks, but OKC’s frontline could not keep San Antonio off the glass in key moments. The Thunder did win the turnover battle 14 to 21 and had more steals and blocks, yet the free throw and rebounding gaps were decisive.

The Spurs lead the series 1-0 after surviving a 28-21 Thunder fourth quarter that forced overtime. PayCom Center was rocking with 18,203 in attendance, and Game 2 in Oklahoma City is already circling as a quick-adjust test.
