After days of negotiations and rumors, the news is now official: Nicolò Zaniolo will continue to wear the Udinese jersey. The Friulian club has announced the contract extension of the former Roma player until June 30, 2029, with an option for an additional season, thus putting an end to a saga that had dominated the recent transfer window.
According to the club’s statement, the deal confirms the mutual desire to continue a path begun last season. Zaniolo himself, via his social channels, also reiterated that his respect for Udinese and its fans “was never in question,” definitively quashing rumors of a possible split.
The green light comes after negotiations focused mainly on the financial terms of the contract. The club has great faith in the 1999-born player, considered one of the main pillars in Kosta Runjaic’s team for the foreseeable future.
The numbers of the 2025/26 season
Away from contractual matters, Zaniolo’s first season at Udinese was an important chance to bounce back after a few difficult years. In Serie A he made 32 appearances, 28 of which as a starter, totaling 2,269 minutes played.
Offensively, he finished with 5 goals and 6 assists, directly contributing to 11 of the team’s goals. The advanced data tells the story of consistent attacking output: 5.50 Expected Goals (xG) and 3.73 Expected Assists (xA), numbers that underline his importance in both developing and finishing chances.
His output translated into 2.2 shots per game, 0.7 on target, and a goal every 454 minutes. To this, he added 1.7 key passes per match and 7 big chances created, confirming that his contribution went far beyond just scoring.
A new beginning
The extension until 2029 is much more than just a signature on a contract. For Udinese, it means securing one of the squad’s most talented players and confirming the desire to build technical continuity. For Zaniolo, it is a chance to build on a positive season and fully cement his resurgence.
With mutual trust restored and an encouraging statistical base, the number 10 in black and white will start again from the summer camp aiming to increase his impact even more and become one of the protagonists of the next Serie A season.
