Angers 2-5 Marseille: Harit 8.3 Sofascore Rating

Olympique de Marseille turned a lively trip to Stade Raymond Kopa into a statement win, beating Angers 5-2 in Round 7 of Ligue 1. Five different scorers carried the visitors after an early scare, with Amine Harit leading the way. The numbers tell the same story as the scoreboard: Marseille owned territory, created more, and finished better. Match details, player stats and every chance are on the Sofascore match page.

How the goals flowed

Angers struck first on 14 minutes when Lilian Raolisoa met a high delivery and headed in from close range. Marseille answered before the break with a classic wide-to-box pattern. Himad Abdelli made it 1-1 on 37 minutes with a near-post header from a Timothy Weah cross. Just six minutes later, Nouhoum Kamissoko put the visitors 2-1 up, heading home after an Emerson cross from deep.

The second half brought a whirlwind three-minute sequence around the hour. Anthony Lopes saved Amine Gouiri’s penalty in the 59th minute, but Gouiri reacted quickest to score from open play a minute later for 1-3. Angers kept a pulse when Amine El Ouazzani converted a penalty in the 75th minute to trim it to 2-3. Marseille then shut the door with two late strikes and fresher legs pushing high.

Harit made it 2-4 in the 83rd minute, arriving centrally to finish after Tochukwu Nnadi’s through involvement in build-up. Two minutes later, Igor Paixão put the game out of reach at 2-5, finishing low to the right after Weah slid him in. From 1-0 down to 2-5 up, the away side’s wide supply and penalty-area presence steadily bent the game.

The numbers that tilted it

Possession ended 58% to 42% for Marseille, but the sharper edge came in chance volume. The visitors fired 21 shots to Angers’ 11 and put 8 on target to the hosts’ 3. Expected goals read 2.74 to 2.02, and expected goals on target widened further to 4.51 against 1.96. The visiting front line also generated 5 big chances, compared to 2 for Angers.

Entries and territory backed that up. Marseille completed 563 passes to 390, with 62 final-third entries to 39 and 33 touches inside the box versus 18. Crossing accuracy favored the visitors 4 of 14 at 29%, while Angers finished 4 of 21 at 19%. Even the average team Sofascore Rating tracked the gulf: 8.40 for Marseille, 6.65 for Angers.

Angers did win more duels overall at 56% and posted more tackles at 14 to 8, plus a hefty 34 clearances. Their long-ball accuracy of 60% also topped Marseille’s 52%. Still, the away side recovered more loose balls 55 to 41 and made more interceptions 12 to 10, which kept pressure cycling back toward the Angers box.

Amine Harit pulls the strings

On a night of many Marseille contributors, Amine Harit took top billing with an 8.3 Sofascore Rating. He scored the key fourth goal on 83 minutes, the strike that calmed a potential late swing. Beyond the finish, his overall involvement pushed Marseille up the pitch at the right moments. The Moroccan completed 35 of 43 passes, created 3 chances, and carried the ball 26 times.

Harit’s progressive work stood out, with 136 meters of total progression and 48.37 meters in progressive carries. He mixed craft with graft, winning 6 duels and recovering the ball 6 times as Marseille defended on the front foot. There were defensive contributions too, with 2 tackles and 1 tackle won in midfield traffic. He even kept the crossing threat alive, hitting 1 accurate cross from 3 attempts.

His chance creation matched the eye test. He posted 0.22 expected assists and used those 64 touches to keep Marseille attached to the box. With one cool finish, three key passes, and persistent ball progression, Harit set the rhythm in the lanes that mattered most. That is exactly how an 8.3 Sofascore Rating is built.

Supporting cast and Angers bright spots

Timothy Weah offered the perfect complement on the flank. He delivered 2 assists, created 2 big chances, and completed 46 of 49 passes, good for an 8.0 Sofascore Rating. His 5 crosses and 2 successful tackles underlined a busy two-way outing. Himad Abdelli added a well-timed header, 4 key passes, and 52 of 54 passing for a strong 7.9.

Amine Gouiri lived a full striker’s hour. He won a penalty, saw it saved, then scored from open play moments later and finished with 4 shots and 3 on target. His expected goals climbed to 1.02 and he drew 3 fouls while knitting play with 2 key passes, closing at 7.8. Nouhoum Kamissoko chipped in with a smart header and a 7.5, and Igor Paixão got his late reward after 8 attempts on goal.

For Angers, Amine El Ouazzani led the line with industry, winning duels, drawing fouls, and calmly converting his penalty for a 7.4. Jim Allevinah offered the best creative spark with 3 key passes, accurate crossing, and 6 recoveries that kept counters live at a 7.2. Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes saved a penalty and made 3 total stops. The hosts’ direct play and duel wins were real features, even if the scoreboard turned against them.

What shaped a 2-5

Marseille’s pattern repeated throughout. Secure the throw or switch, drive the full back high, and deliver with quality. The Abdelli and Kamissoko headers arrived off clean wide service from Weah and Emerson. Final-third execution backed it up, with Marseille completing 142 of 182 actions there at 78% versus 54 of 75 at 72% for Angers.

Touches in the box and recovery numbers pointed to sustained pressure rather than isolated bursts. By stacking 33 box touches to 18, the visitors guaranteed second balls and rebounds would fall their way. Even when Angers pulled it back to 2-3, Marseille’s possession and field position never really loosened. A late surge sealed it as legs tired and the passing lanes stayed open.

Angers had their moments. They won the ground duels at 58% in the first half and hit the woodwork after the break. Long balls connected often and counters found space. But Marseille simply created more and turned those moments into goals more efficiently. In a high-event match, the extra volume and accuracy told the tale.
