18. 10. 2026Filip Jørgensen's Paris lesson
Chelsea’s trip to Parc des Princes was a rough one for Filip Jørgensen. The goalkeeper finished with a 4.7 Sofascore Rating as Paris Saint-Germain won 5-2 in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. It was a night where the scoreline and the underlying numbers told the same story.
Shot-stopping that never settled
Jørgensen made three saves, including one from inside the box, but the damage added up. His goals prevented figure sat at -3.21, which means he conceded more than expected based on the quality of shots on target. An error leading to a goal compounded the pressure as PSG kept finding clean looks.
For a young keeper in a knockout tie, this was a steep curve. The volume and clarity of chances faced left little margin for recovery once the first mistakes appeared.
Distribution had intent, not always the accuracy
With 64 touches and 56 total passes, Jørgensen was busy in Chelsea’s build-up. He completed 40 passes, went 11 of 24 on long balls, and found teammates 32 times in his own half out of 37 attempts. In the opposition half he was 8 of 19, a reminder of the risk that comes with stretching play against a high press.
There were positives outside the box too. He swept up once successfully and won both of his duels. His 11 ball recoveries showed alert positioning, even if the shot-stopping numbers defined the night.
What the numbers say about the season so far
After three Champions League appearances this season, Jørgensen averages a 5.87 Sofascore Rating. He has conceded six goals with zero clean sheets, and his season goals prevented sits at -3.55. The sample is small, but it underlines where improvements are needed at this level.
For Chelsea, this performance puts the spotlight on defensive structure and execution in Europe. For Jørgensen, the task is clear: tighten the hands, tidy the feet, and turn those marginal moments in his favor.
