Most tools for running a competition do the same handful of things: generate a fixture list, record who won, update a table. That’s the floor, not a differentiator.

Torneo.com by Sofascore is free, covers soccer, basketball, volleyball, futsal, minifootball, water polo, rugby, tennis and handball, and does six things that are genuinely uncommon in this category.

1. Your competition appears on Sofascore

This is the one nothing else on the market replicates.

Competitions run in Torneo.com are published inside the Sofascore app, alongside the professional leagues that more than 50 million people already open it for. Not a separate section for amateur sport. The same fixture lists, the same standings, the same match pages.

A fan can follow a regional Sunday match live and get a notification when someone scores. A youth player is followed the way professionals are. Other platforms give you a page and leave you to drive traffic to it. This puts your competition in front of an audience that’s already there.

2. You can attach a live stream to the fixture

If you’re streaming a match, Torneo.com lets you attach that stream to the fixture itself, so anyone looking at the match finds it there rather than hunting for a link someone posted three days ago.

Worth being precise about how this works. Torneo.com doesn’t host the stream and doesn’t provide the broadcast: you stream to YouTube, then attach the URL. Only YouTube links work, so if you currently stream to Facebook Live or Twitch, this won’t pick it up.

In practice that’s a low bar. A phone, a tripod and a YouTube account cost nothing, and plenty of amateur competitions are already doing it. What’s usually missing is that the stream and the fixture live in different places, so the people most likely to watch never find it. Attaching the two solves the discovery problem rather than the production one.

3. It records the match, not just the result

Torneo.com takes lineups with captains, substitutions, missing players, starting positions and kit colours, plus statistics specific to the sport you’re running.

The part that matters operationally is that none of it is compulsory. Enter everything live as the match unfolds, or type the final score afterwards and move on. Most tools pick one mode and force it. A volunteer standing pitchside in bad weather needs the fast path to exist, and a competition where half the data never gets entered is worse off than one that recorded scores properly.

4. Players build a record, not a scoresheet

Goals, assists, cards, minutes and appearances attach to a player profile that persists across seasons rather than resetting when the competition ends.

Season-long scorer and assist rankings come out of that automatically. So does something less obvious: a player who moves between teams or competitions keeps one continuous record. For a 16-year-old, that’s the difference between a scoresheet nobody kept and a history a scout can actually look at.

5. Standings you can put on your own site

League tables, scorer rankings and fixtures can be embedded directly into your own website, and they update themselves as results come in.

Nobody has to maintain a second copy of the table by hand, which is where most league websites go stale by November. One organiser running several leagues describes loading more than 60 fixtures in under ten minutes and anchoring the tables to their own pages, so the site stays current without anyone touching it.

6. The web version has been rebuilt

Torneo.com started as a mobile app, and the phone is still the right tool at the venue. But competition setup isn’t venue work.

Drawing groups, building a fixture list, configuring a bracket and setting up teams are all jobs you do sitting down with a keyboard, and the web version has been substantially rebuilt for exactly that. Set the competition up properly on a laptop, then enter results from a phone on match day.

Free, with no ceiling

Not a bonus feature. It’s the reason the rest of the list is unusual.

Torneo.com is free with no team cap, no match cap, no advertising and no paid tier. Much of this category is free up to about eight teams, then charges per tournament or per month, and several of the free options run ads. A full season with 16 teams costs nothing here and somewhere between €40 and several hundred elsewhere.

What it doesn’t do is registration or entry-fee collection, and that isn’t planned. If taking money from teams is the problem you need solved, a registration-first platform is the better choice.
