Premier League Fantasy: Players to Avoid in Round 15

In Round 15 of this season’s Premier League campaign, we will be changing things up slightly by highlighting some of the players to avoid purchasing for your Sofascore Fantasy Premier League team.
These players include goalkeepers who struggle to keep clean sheets due to a leaky defensive unit in front of them, defenders who are prone to mistakes or being carded, midfielders who have little to show for their efforts in the middle of the park or forwards who have hit a dry spell in front of goal.
Note: At least 50% appearances so far this season.
Martin Dúbravka (Burnley) – €4.4M
Slovakian goalkeeper, Martin Dúbravka, has been a tad unlucky between the sticks for Burnley so far in this season’s Premier League campaign as he has not kept a single clean sheet away from home so far this season.
Despite possessing a Sofascore average rating of 6.86 to date, Dúbravka has had to pick the ball out of the back of the net no fewer than 28 times already this season, 12 goals of which have been away from home.

Burnley will be away from home at Newcastle United on Saturday and The Magpies have scored in all seven of their home games so far, so a clean sheet for Dúbravka looks highly unlikely.
Toti Gomes (Wolves) – €6.1M
Wolves will be at home again on Monday night at Molineux when the west midlands club play host to Manchester United but this certainly holds no guarantees of success for either Wolves or Portuguese defender, Toti Gomes.

Wolves’ inability to keep clean sheets either home or away this season has had a negative impact upon players’ ratings and points tallies in this Fantasy Premier League, not least Gomes as he possesses a Sofascore average rating of just 6.33 and further damage looks likely on Monday night!
Leny Yoro (Manchester United) – €5.3M
French defender, Leny Yoro, has produced particularly disappointing performances at the back for the Red Devils and unsurprisingly, with a Sofascore average rating of just 6.50 he is the worst-rated defender for Manchester United (across players who have made at least 50% appearances so far this season).

In addition, Manchester United have failed to keep a single clean sheet on their travels so far this season, so we have earmarked Yoro as one to avoid when looking at defenders for round 15.
Kyle Walker (Burnley) – €5.2M
Our next choice may raise a few eyebrows as former Manchester City and England defender, Kyle Walker, had previously been a consistent performer at the top level but a somewhat surprise move to Burnley for this season’s Premier League campaign has not turned out quite as well as many expected.

Burnley have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their seven away games to date this term while on a personal level, Walker possesses a Sofascore average rating of just 6.51 and has produced just the one assist so far this season.
João Gomes (Wolves) – €6.0M
Brazilian midfielder, João Gomes, has struggled to create any inspiration for his side so far this season in what has been a horrendous campaign overall for the west midlands club as Wolves sit rock-bottom of the Premier League table with just two points to their name ahead of Round 15.

With a Sofascore average rating of just 6.61 under his belt so far this season in addition to failing to create a single assist, Gomes’ current value of €6.0M looks unjustified at this current time.
Xavi Simons (Tottenham) – €9.0M
Tottenham have produced a somewhat inconsistent Premier League campaign so far this season under former Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, as the north London club perhaps unsurprisingly occupy a mid-table position of 11th place in the English top flight table ahead of Round 15.

Curiously, Tottenham head the charts in terms of records away from home though this season as Spurs have won four of their seven outings on the road and scoring 15 goals – however, this has not translated as success for Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons who has a Sofascore average rating of just 6.65 along with producing zero goals and just 1 assist. Totally over-valued at €9.0M!
Anthony Elanga (Newcastle Utd) – €7.0M
Newcastle United and Swedish midfielder Anthony Elanga have produced a disappointing and frustrating season so far for The Magpies fans as the north-east club occupy 12th place in the Premier League table ahead of Round 15 but the hosts are unlikely to get a better opportunity to set the record straight when they entertain Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

However, Elanga has been a huge disappointment so far this term both in terms of a Sofascore average rating of 6.56 as well as goals/assists – just 1 assist to date. Does not represent value at €7.0M.
Florian Wirtz (Liverpool) – €8.5M
In terms of value for money and pure Fantasy Premier League output, Liverpool’s new signing Florian Wirtz is among one of the worst signings so far in this seasons Fantasy campaign as the highly-priced German midfielder has neither contributed a goal or assist so far this term despite making 13 appearances (9 starts/4 as sub).

At a current value of €8.5M, Florian Wirtz is one of the high-profile players to avoid for the time being especially as he possesses a Sofascore rating of 6.55 and is part of a Liverpool outfit who are really struggling to produce consistent performances at the moment.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (Nottm Forest) – €7.0M
Nottingham Forest midfielder, Callum Hudson-Odoi, has so far struggled to make a serious impact for the Tricky Trees so far in this season’s Premier League campaign as he has managed to contribute just the solitary goal so far this term along with failing to produce a single assist.

His meagre output along with a heft price tag of €7.0M indicates a player that is best left alone in terms of the transfer market ahead of Round 15 and at the moment looks unlikely to emulate last season’s record of 5 goals and 2 assists.
Anthony Gordon (Newcastle Utd) – €7.8M
Newcastle United striker, Anthony Gordon, is another Magpies player who has flattered to deceive so far in this season’s Fantasy Premier League as the former Everton forward has managed to hit the back of the net just once in his 9 appearances to date this term (7 starts/2 as sub) along with a disappointing Sofascore average rating of 6.78 to his name.

At the current value of €7.8M, Anthony Gordon represents downside rather than up and is another to avoid in the selection of your Sofascore team for Round 15.
Evanilson (Bournemouth) – €7.3M
Much was expected of Brazilian forward, Evanilson, for this current 2025/26 Premier League season for the south coast club after he notched a total of 10 goals in last season’s campaign for Bournemouth, but so far this campaign has not gone the way many might have imagined.

Just the single goal for The Cherries which came against Tottenham towards the end of August has been Evanilson’s meagre contribution so far and at a whopping €7.3M in the transfer market along with a Sofascore average rating of just 6.68, he rounds off our Sofascore XI of players to avoid picking for Round 15.
Total Budget SAVED: €73.6M
