Welcome to Round 36 in what has a ‘Samba’ feel to Sofascore’s Fantasy Premier League as we will be highlighting the best-performing South American stars in this season’s English top flight for each position.

With the World Cup fast approaching, these South American stars have three more games in which to impress their respective national coaches and book their place on the plane to USA, Mexico and Canada!

Round 36 commences with a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield with both sides looking to secure places in European football for next season.

So, let’s get into it…

Formation: 3-5-2

Emiliano Martinez  (Burnley v ASTON VILLA) – €6.1M

Aston Villa look to be on course for securing Champions League football for the second season on the trot and Argentinian goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, has been a dependable and crucial cog in Unai Emery’s side this season as he has registered an overall Sofascore rating of 6.97 to date.

Martinez has achieved a total of 150 Fantasy points so far this season for The Villans whilst possessing a form rating of 4.3 as well.

The Argentinian has been on the losing side only once against Burnley in the Premier League.

Gabriel (West Ham v ARSENAL) – €10.1M

Arsenal not only sit top of the Premier League table but their Brazilian defender Gabriel also occupies top spot in the Fantasy points table for defenders with a staggering total of 249 points under his belt with three games remaining of the season.

Gabriel is second only to Declan Rice in Arsenal’s Sofascore player ratings with a score of 7.30 which has been helped by chipping in with 3 goals along with producing 4 assists so far this term.

At €10.1M, Gabriel is the most expensive defender ahead of Round 36 but this could be money well spent especially if The Gunners keep a clean sheet at West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Marcos Senesi  (Fulham v BOURNEMOUTH) – €7.1M

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages in this season’s Premier League campaign as the south coast club currently occupy 6th place in the table and amongst the sides jostling for a European spot for next season.

Argentinian defender, Marcos Senesi, has been Bournemouth’s most reliable and consistent performer to date this season and this is reflected by a Sofascore rating of 7.21, leading the way for his club.

Senesi has racked up a total of 203 Fantasy points so far this season which has been helped by the fact that he is The Cherries’ leading assist provider with 5 to his name – further points look likely at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.

Omar Alderete  (SUNDERLAND v Manchester Utd) – €5.5M

Sunderland have enjoyed a solid and satisfactory return to the Premier league this season following promotion from the Championship as the Black Cats sit in the mid-table safety of 12th place in the top flight table.

Paraguayan defender, Omar Alderete, has formed an effective partnership at the back for Sunderland with the likes of Nordi Mukiele and Dan Ballard and Alderete possesses a Sofascore rating of 6.82 for his efforts.

Alderete has also chipped in with 1 goal and 1 assist so far and along with a total of 156 Fantasy points and valued at just €5.5M, he looks a bargain for Round 36.

Bruno Guimarães (Nottm Forest v NEWCASTLE UTD) – €9.0M

It’s been a disappointing Premier League campaign for Newcastle United this season as The Magpies find themselves sitting in the bottom half of the table in 13th place but Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimarães, has been one of the shining lights this term for Eddie Howe’s side.

Despite being out injured during the whole of March, Guimarães has nevertheless recorded Sofascore ratings of 7.0 or above in each of his last nine months in the domestic top flight, earning him an overall rating of 7.46 to date.

He leads the way for The Magpies with 9 goals and 5 assists so far this season and has amassed a total of 193 Fantasy points as well – in addition, Guimarães has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in previous appearances against Forest.

Enzo Fernández  (Liverpool v CHELSEA) – €8.6M

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández also features once again for Round 36 as the Argentinian midfielder will look to press home his claims for a spot on the plane for this upcoming World Cup for the Albiceleste and consistency has been his calling card in tis season’s campaign.

Fernández has achieved Sofascore ratings of 7.0 or over in seven of his last eight months for The Blues along with amassing a total of 183 Fantasy points to date as well.

In addition, the Argentinian play-maker has scored 8 goals and produced 3 assists this season for the London club.

Moisés Caicedo (Liverpool v CHELSEA) – €8.3M

Joining Enzo Fernández in the middle of the park for our Sofascore XI in Round 36 is fellow Chelsea team-mate Moisés Caicedo as the Ecuadorian defensive midfielder has achieved a Sofascore rating of 7.15 for Chelsea so far this term sitting behind only to Reece James.

Caicedo has produced 3 goals and 1 assist so far for his club in this season’s campaign and has been largely the ball-winner and distributor for Chelsea this term.

Nevertheless, a total of 159 Fantasy points under his belt along with 1 goal and 2 assists previously against Liverpool makes him an important part of your XI for Round 36.

Casemiro (Sunderland v MANCHESTER UTD) – €7.5M

Brazilian defensive midfielder, Casemiro, has been an integral part of Michael Carrick and Manchester United’s rise up the Premier League table this season and the Red Devils now sit a clear 3rd place in the English top flight table and looking forward to a return to Champions League football next season.

Casemiro has been the epitome of consistency in the United red shirt this season as the Brazilian has produced Sofascore ratings of 7.0 or over in each of his last eight months for his club, along with netting 9 times as well as producing 2 assists.

Such has been Casemiro’s upturn in form that he sits only second to Bruno Fernandes in United’s Sofascore ratings with a score of 7.22 along with a total of 177 Fantasy points to his name. A relative bargain at just €7.5M!

Matheus Cunha (Sunderland v MANCHESTER UTD) – €8.0M

Matching Casemiro’s output of 9 goals and 2 assists for Manchester United is fellow  Brazilian and team-mate, Mateus Cunha, who possesses a Sofascore rating of 7.06  heading into Round 36 as United travel to the Stadium of Light to take on mid-table occupants, Sunderland.

Cunha has bagged 3 goals in his last 5 Premier League matches for Manchester United and the Brazilian attacking midfielder has also totted up 145 Fantasy points so far this season as well.

With United looking to nail down a Champions League spot, expect Cunha to be in the thick of the action against the Black Cats!

Igor Thiago  (Manchester City v BRENTFORD) – €7.5M

Brazilian striker, Igor Thiago, has arguably been the stand-out South American player this season in the Premier League as he has fired Brentford up into 7th place in the table and in serious contention for a place in Europe for next season.

The Bees’ striker has certainly carried a sting in the tail up front for the London club as Thiago has notched a staggering total of 22 goals to date along with 1 assist, making him the archetypal number 9 alongside City’s Erling Haaland.

Indeed, Thiago and Haaland are battling it out for the Premier League Golden Boot while the Brazilian marksman has a Sofascore rating of 6.97 along with a total of 165 Fantasy points under his belt as well – and he will be in the shop window in front of Pep Guardiola on Saturday evening…

Richarlison  (TOTTENHAM v Leeds Utd) – €6.1M

Monday night concludes this weekend’s Premier League action for Round 36 but nevertheless features a crucial clash between relegation candidates Tottenham and to a lesser extent, Leeds United, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Back-to-back wins against Wolves and Aston Villa have lifted Spurs out of the bottom three with the latter result being orchestrated by Tottenham’s Brazilian striker, Richarlison, who leads the goalscoring charts for the north London club.

An overall Sofascore rating of 6.86 has been helped by producing 10 goals along with 4 assists so far this season and Richarlison just relishes the big matches, so he looks a real bargain at just €6.1M!
