Luka Modrić has won nearly everything football has to offer. But now, he’s got a new piece of silverware to add to his collection – one created just for him.
At the end of the 2024/25 season, Modrić was honoured with the Sofascore Founders’ Legend Award, a one-of-a-kind recognition presented by our very own co-founders, Zlatko Hrkać and Ivan Bešlić.

This special award celebrates a once-in-a-generation player and marks Modrić’s unique connection to Sofascore – as our first official brand ambassador and one of the most respected names in global football.
A Farewell Season in Madrid
This moment comes at a time of reflection for Modrić. After 13 unforgettable years at Real Madrid, he has officially bid farewell to the Spanish giants. With over 500 matches in white, a total of 28 trophies won with the club, six of them being Champions League titles, and four LaLiga trophies, his impact in Madrid is forever imprinted in club’s history books.
Modrić wasn’t just a key player. He was the player who dictated the rhythm of an era – a midfield general who redefined what control, elegance, and consistency look like on the pitch.
Croatia’s Golden Leader
And on the international stage? Simply said – iconic.
As Croatia’s captain, Modrić led the national team to the 2018 World Cup final, winning the Ballon d’Or that same year. He followed it up with a bronze medal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, cementing his place among the all-time greats.

With over 170 caps, he is Croatia’s most capped player ever. But stats only tell half the story. Modrić has become a symbol of resilience, loyalty, and leadership – values that go far beyond the football field.
A Personal Tribute from Sofascore
That’s why this award matters. It’s more than a trophy, it’s a personal thank you from the platform he helped shape and represent.
“Luka believed in our vision from early on. His career reflects everything we stand for – excellence, longevity, and data-backed brilliance.”
Ivan Bešlić, Sofascore’s co-founder

Presented privately by Sofascore’s co-founder Zlatko Hrkać and Ivan Bešlić, the Sofascore Founders’ Legend Award isn’t part of the regular awards lineup. It’s reserved for someone who’s not only made football history but who also played a part in our journey.
